120$/yr for knowing “how-to”

Posted by Scorpiono | The daily www | Wednesday 27 February 2008 6:23 pm

I’ve just got a contract for 120$/yr for .. uhm.. registering a domain, setting up the nameservers, adding it to cpanel, setup the database and ftp and wait..

Worth it? Yes, it does, otherwise I wouldn’t have done it.

Who is paying? A friend and future partner with more web development projects

Doing any programming/design for this site? No.. that’s the good part.

I’m clearly into making Scorpiono.com go higher and higher, at the moment it’s nowhere I dream of, but it’s on a good track. *cross fingers*

PS: I’ll be making a portfolio website, differite than the blog posts where I’ll stock all my web graphics (webdesign,photo editing,special effects,wallpapers,etc)

Websnapr.com - Having problems

Posted by Scorpiono | Website reviews | Sunday 24 February 2008 8:14 am

I’m seeing more and more connectivity issues with websnapr.com - grrrr

What’s websnapr.com?
A nice idea for a website, they make a screenshot with the URL given in differite sizes and you can use the code to place them in your site.

What’s can cause the problem?
Tons and tons of screenshots being linked directly from their server might cause overload really easy, and the flux of traffic is either okay, either a tsunami. I think they have hardware issues, or they simply ain’t making that much revenue to keep the servers or upgrading comming.

*Shame* Good projects, bad funds in my opinion. I know the feeling!

PS: This wasn’t linked from websnapr.com - >:) I’m so evil

[II] CPX Interactive - Huge rollercoaster

Posted by Scorpiono | Ad companies | Saturday 23 February 2008 7:07 am

I’m experiencing a huge rollercoaster effect.

If yesterday I’ve made a bit over 1$, today I’ve made $7.

Guess the hybrid system makes the rollercoaster be so wild.

CPX Interactive - Ad program review by Scorpiono

Posted by Scorpiono | Ad companies | Friday 22 February 2008 6:35 am

Right after the adsense issue :( , which got me banned in the end, I was thinking about writing an article to teach other webmasters the blackhat technique, easy as 1-2-3 to get someone banned from Google Adsense as long as he’s not a premium publisher.

Instead teaching others (which I will do in the couple of weeks as the article isn’t that big) how to ban, I had to earn some revenue from my websites, so I had to focus on a new program that pays good.

I’ve tried ClickBooth, didn’t worked out, I expected not to work out with PPA as my target audience is 17-18 years old.
I’ve tried AdToll for a bit, not really working out, all I see is their own ad for a couple of days now, no network ads whatsoever.

I’ve been applying for CPX Interactive a couple of times now, I had to change something in my main site’s engine and after that and a bit of Social Engineering to be honest, I’ve got in.

CPX Interactive - CPM company

Let’s get this streight, CPM works good with proxies, warez forums, etc.. might do well for me as I’m getting 80 pageviews/user and over 3 million pageviews per month.

DigitalPoint’s search option is pure gold, I’ve done some research on CPX and everyone was whining they pay so low, you need huge amount of traffic to make $1, and why chose to make $1 when you can make $20 with that traffic?

I got a bit scared, but tried CPX out as I was so eager to get in, no time on going back now.
The first few days were horrible, I tought of removing them, something just kept me from doing so.

It’s like the 7th day now, and the revenue increased from .50 a day to $3.50 (600%+)

Why?
As my account manager said, and I tought it was bullshit to keep me hanging on, it takes a while for the ads to optimize as it’s a hybrid earning, from CPC/CPA/CPM combined, so I had to convert that traffic into clicks, and clicks into downloads (mostly toolbars), it happend after a few days, I’m wondering the peak after 30 days of CPX on my site, I’ll keep you guys up to date.

Cheers! :D

Dapper.net is an amazing web product from my point of view, as it allows any user to grab content from other websites, differite than the old rss grabbers, you can get any content, be it video, text, etc..

It’s easy and you can check out the demo here: http://www.dapper.net/dapperDemo/

Enjoy :D

99designs.com

99designs.com

99designs.com has been lunched by SitePoint, many of you might already know about this, I just experienced the domain name change few minutes ago while trying to submit a template. (Yes, I design!)

I think this is for re-branding purpose thus increasing traffic on a long-period.

Simple ad rotator script - PHP - Scorpiono style

Posted by Scorpiono | Portfolio, Scripts | Friday 15 February 2008 9:04 am

It’s one of the most simple ways to create an ad rotator with PHP, and the code below is easy to understand.

Simple ad rotator script with PHP - Scorpiono style

$ads=array();
$ads[]=’HTML CODE HERE FOR FIRST AD’;
$ads[]=’HTML CODE FOR THE 2ND AD’;
$ads[]=’ETC’;

//display the ad
echo $ads[rand(0,count($ads)-1)];

There you go, easy as 1,2,3 - You can change, use, alter and do whatever you like.

Never forget the main purpose

Posted by Scorpiono | Website reviews | Tuesday 12 February 2008 12:58 am

I’ve just seen a comment from a user to another user’s profile on MyLOL.

mistyhunter writes on 10th Oct 2007:
“hey i dont know if i sent my message cus my mail sucks but hey u shouldnt be lonely. this website really works i have already found someone i truly love. just keep looking and dont give up hope. and pos. thi s site is a godsend. lol”

Dispite the fact that the main theme is teen dating, which works obviously, I’ve never focused that much to see if people really start relationships, I rather focused on making it more fun, more easy to navigate and add photos, basically having a richer experience when browsing.

Working on some web2.0 graphics and applications at the moment, hopefully niflostancu will work with me on this one as well since he’s the genius behind fast-good-quality-php-coding.

I have deep satisfaction smile on my face right now, and it’s 2007 october, wOOt!

Never forget your main purpose, as the site was built to achieve it!
