Entrecard.com for sale on Sitepoint - $100,000 min bid

Saturday, September 27th, 2008

It looks like major web pioneers are thinking of listing their websites at SitePoint as it’s the most well known and biggest website marketplace online.

Entrecard.com - Blogosphere Ad Network 80m impressions/mo

URL: http://www.entrecard.com
Price: min $100,000
Established: Tue Nov 6 2007
Uniques/Month: 85,000
Page views/month: 3,250,000
Monthly Revenue: 2000
Google Pagerank: 5
Listed: Thu Sep 25 2008

Entrecard.com is famous for their widget, bloggers use it to increase their blog traffic. My first impression is that blogrush and entrecard have the same backbone idea so let’s take a look at their traffic:

As you can see, John Reese has his tricks to start high, create the boom, do everything he can to make it the biggest thing after Michael Jackson - I’m kid(ding)! - but the star of this article is actually Entrecard, which has a steady increasing traffic which will definetly pass on blogrush if John won’t pay attention.

Why selling, it’s a succesful business?

It all comes down to the failure of negociating with a venture company that wished to takeover and create the next-level business, investing 8M $USD.

The argument sounds understandable but selling the website reveling this conditions will definetly under-price the final result.

The key answer is here:
- There are no attachment files (what?!)
- Site Access Verified? No (what?!)

Why will anyone try to list the website on sitepoint, if it’s not his?
Comments awaited..

Looking for good content writers

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

I’m launching this blog post to make sure everyone who wants to apply understands the basic criteria.

I’m looking for content writers skilled in the following topics:
• Domain names marketplace, Website selling/buying successful websites, SitePoint interviews with the sellers - the articles are usually >200 words long, contain rich SEO keywords based on a previous analysis, is semantically written for SEO, will be digg submitted and stumbled after posting.

• “How to” articles guiding basic internet users to basic facts such as installing a new wordpress theme, computer security and basically everything related to computer fundamentals - this has to include a video with Camtasia or any other screen capturing software.

I’m paying the following:
- Article base price (This will be a low price definitely)
- Bonus if article hits over 100 diggs (I’ll double the initial price)
- Bonus if the article hits 1000 uniques in a day (I’ll triple the initial price)

The payment idea reveals one thing: Quality is paid 3x the price of just an article.

You must not:
- Copy any articles except quotated text.
- Buy/redirect junk traffic
- Apply if you have no passion for the website industry
- Apply if you have no knowledge about digg/stumble/youtube

To apply:

• Send an email to scorpiono - at - scorpiono.com with the subject “Content writer looking to make super-duper high quality articles so I can have bonuses on each article” and details, demos, previous articles. Set your price per word (hint:Be cheap here) - If you’re good, I’ll pick you!

If you are hard working, and the articles usually get bonuses, I’ll give even a bigger bonus each month. You make me happy, I make you happy.

For the loyal readers, I’m still going to post at the same post rate and I’m still going to show you the information with the same sarcastic style.

Today, 25th September 2008 - Scorpiono is 19 years old

Yes, it’s me, I’m 19 today. I’m not too excited about it, I always loved the hype of “omg, you’re making money online and you’re just 16?” but life goes on and hopefuly I’ll be a bit more mature.

Many might ask what do you wish this year:
1) Create my company with employees and office (aprox utopic)
2) Buy the new Audi A4 2008 B8 Attraction (very possible)
3) My sweet/hot blonde still share the love
4) This blog going high on quality articles and me going boom on the affiliate marketing
5) Just good health and the rest are all do-able, even 1)

Thank you,
Scorpiono - 19 year old wannabee DotCom Mogul - Fancy, huh!

Auction won $550 - www.cescfabregasfan.com - Success story

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

Hello all, my name is Drewz and in the first place I would like to thank my friend Scorpiono for the invitation to write an article on his blog.

I am going to write about one of my first websites and the selling process on sitepoint. I started a fan site for soccer player Cesc Fabregas www.cescfabregasfan.com in August 2008, it ranked no.1 for the main keyword in 2 months and started producing revenue from Adsense(not so much), link sales (page rank 4) and advertising for a company specialised in selling soccer equipment.

http://marketplace.sitepoint.com/auctions/44281

I go to the point where I needed some money very quickly and I had to sell the website, sitepoint was the place to do it http://marketplace.sitepoint.com/auctions/44281 .Thanks again Scorpiono for the advices on the selling proces(description, pictures about revenue and trafic etc.).
After some time the first bid apeared with a lot of questions from potential buyers. The final and winning bid was for 550$(i expected a bit more, but per total it was a fair price), the payment was done by Paypal very quickly and nice, the winner was a good feedback one from previous auctions he won.

In the final part I want to share some advices:
1)its imposibile for a website not to be successful if you work on it and be fair to users

2)never give up, raking on google and other search enghines is done in time not in a day or two

3)page rank=money, pr 5 is very easy after pr5 its pretty hard to get higher

4)never make made for adsense websites, they make a bad reputation for the web and for the information culture.

5)talk to other webmasters(not only for links), change opinions be in touch with the industry

6)when selling a website, bring all the proof you can on traffic and revenue, dont pe cheap on words make a big discription and a story about the website.

7)wait for the bids they will come, answer questions seriously, do not rush for private bids telling to bin at a lower price than the one set.

Template test - ouch! don’t hit me!

The art of business negociation

Sunday, September 21st, 2008

Next week I’m going to recieve a new contract and it’s quite alot of money in stake and a long-term relationship between. I’m a good salesman, I tend to believe that because I’ve never failed in any price negociation whatsoever (I went a bit lower than expected, but never a failure) so I’m going to start off with a bold price, which is a sign of strenght that shows I evaluate my work precisely. The worst case scenario he’s going to underbid 10% but I have inside information that they need this more than I do, so the price is not a problem on the other side.

I’ll keep you updated on the contract and meanwhile I recommend you the following article:

Starring: Why did the chicken cross the road?

BARACK OBAMA: The chicken crossed the road because it was time for a change! The chicken wanted change!

JOHN McCAIN: My friends, that chicken crossed the road because he recognized the need to engage in cooperation and dialogue with all the chickens on the other side of the road.

HILLARY CLINTON: When I was First Lady, I personally helped that little chicken to cross the road. This experience makes me uniquely qualified to ensure right from Day One that every chicken in this country gets the chance it deserves to cross the road. But then, this really isn’t about me.

GEORGE W. BUSH: We don’t really care why the chicken crossed the road. We just want to know if the chicken is on our side of the road, or not. The chicken is either with us, or against us. There is no middle ground here.

BILL CLINTON: I did not cross the road with that chicken. What is your definition of crossing?

It’s the 2nd time I’m re-doing manele.me because of Adobe Dreamweaver CS3

Saturday, September 20th, 2008

I’ll yell out Unlucky!!

Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 is killing me!

The first time I remember I screwed things, I had a problem in Dreamweaver and I had to re-upload the content, but this time it was my fault, I have uploaded old on new.

This 2nd time I have clicked this:

This basically made the old files which were in the / (root) instead /public_html/ overwrite my files, thus old on new (both on hdd and on /public_html)

Done, days of work screwed.

The light of hope

I call my main man, niflostancu, he was sleeping at the time so sorry mate, and we started recreating everything for about 1 hour. If you have watched Top Gear, he’s the Stig of PHP.

Everything right now should be back to normal.

JohnChow copies ProBlogger

Thursday, September 18th, 2008

JohnChow copies ProBlogger, it’s an obvious fact as he moved to his v3 of the blog.
You can check John Chow’s blog here.
You can check Darren Rowse’s blog here.

john chow

john chow

It’s almost identical if you’d ask me, so why not try to copy their success pattern? Well actually I like to keep some of my original things, I’ll keep my own header ideas but I’ll also use the javascript for sliding features posts, it’s quite useful. Also Scorpiono v2 as I like to call the new theme will have a bit more dynamic features, a search bar, and most of all I’ll have long, high-quality, useful articles beside my /daily www/ ramblings.

businessinternetdirectory(dot)com - reported as scam, are they?

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

Jezlad has joined DigitalPoint forums in december 2007, has 50 posts so this makes him post hungryless.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!

These guys are nothing but a joke.

My father was tricked into joining them when he started his business a few years ago.

Two years subscription on they’re phoning him repeatedly demanding he continue his listing. They’ve told him if he doesn’t pay again they’ll bill him £2000 (on his credit card details they have on file - he paid by cheque) for breach of contract and they even told me when I spoke to them today that his failure to continue the listing would result in them “taking his site off the internet” and removing him from all the major search engines. (thats right folks, didnt you know they own google?…)

The telephonist was rude, threatening and downright out of order.

My father doesn’t really understand the internet, i’m infuriated by their audacity.

They also claimed to have a Page Rank 9 site

http://www.checkpagerank.net/index.p…ry.com&links=1

Nothing but a lying bunch of scammers who prey on internet business beginners.

If this post breaches site protocol my infraction box has a few spaces.

I’m not going to affirm they are a scam, but if what he said is right and I’m not sure why he would lie, the whole harassing thing is definetly one of the worst attitudes I’ve found online keeping in mind that his father is someone with less internet information, he would get quite affected.

Should we consider this a scam?
