I’ve met Jay in my attempt to get a new sponsorship for a VPS. I had to pay for the VPS though, lower than most and that made me quite happy. Anyway we discussed on MSN about hosting, programming, web industry so he’s really a great guy and I always have a nice chat with. Consider this my personal pick, but it’s worth being in the top, I guarantee. He’s very skilled with hosting and all it’s server-side derivates.

Smyrl is a respected member on DigitalPoint, after asking around who you think will make it to the top, quite a few people yelled Smyrl. She’s (*Okay, I admit, I said He in the first place, but why are all the nice people girls, in my point of view*) a Zend certified engineer, I remember her (*again*) well in the PHP section of the website.

8. Deluxdon
He got recommended by many people on the thread, so I’m going to give him a well earned place in this top. It seems like Deluxdon pimps the blog world!

A very active forum member, recommended by quite a few on the thread. He has over 14,000 posts so all my appreciation.

For being the first member to recommend a top 10 on DigitalPoint forums with a nice list, description included. Many other lists followed but he was the first so I’m giving him the 10th place on my list.

Oops, not sure if I’ve mentioned what script installer is, so here I go. The amphiteatre was full, I’ve never seen that much crowd at any conference, and yesterday I also attended a conferece about the stock market. I was pretty surprized to see Microsoft’s Chief Operations Officer, Kevin Turner, speaking to the crowd. He pointed out basic things about Microsoft, what’s new to come, what’s microsoft investing in, and yes, they are number 1 for research and development with a buget of over $8 billion dollars.

I have to admit, I was impressed even with the free Mc Donalds meal they offered for us at the end of the conference, they were sure we are hungry and yes we were!

I recommend everyone to attend conferences of any kind, you learn more than you can imagine and you meet people that might help you succeed, no matter what your goals are.

Currently, I’m trying my best to get an interview with Kevin, so cross the fingers as I’m going to ask more about the online advertising than anyone.

For instance, I see domains such as commands.com to be sold at $8k USD on SitePoint marketplace and it definitely has a bigger value. I do the development on my own and believe me, it’s not such a fast process.

Online domain consultants have personally given me the advice of buying domain names in bulk right now, it’s the perfect time to grab them at a low price and sell them in a few years for the correct one. .net - This is the domain for “network” and nowdays social networks are using it more often. It’s also the best alternative if dot com is taken.

.info - This is the domain name for “information” and it’s the cheapest domain name at GoDaddy, I think it’s 1.99$/yr and it’s most used for informational websites about a specific theme. Ex: audicars.info

.me - This is a 2008 new TLD, people use it for blogs or anything personal, stands for ME as in -you- so it’s a good TLD for a blog. You do have to register it for minimum 2 yrs and it’s a bit expensive.

You have 2 options on this one:

Option 1: Buy hosting from GoDaddy - you simply click “Add hosting plan” and pay for hosting on GoDaddy and do absolutely nothing.

Option 2: Go to your domain name and click “Name servers” - you should use the servers provided by your hosting company. They usually look like this: ns1.scorpiono.com ns2.scorpiono.com - After this you should wait for it to propagate through out the internet. It usually takes a max 24h to make your website available for each computer world wide.
